POWER OF POP review of Vertical Rush album launch concert.
by Sherwin Tay and Kevin Matthews

“I have yet to leave a Vertical Rush show disappointed, tonight was no exception. The caliber of musicality and showmanship was impeccable, as has come to be expected from these seasoned veterans… this was easily one of the most memorable shows in recent memory that I’ve had the privilege of attending… After years of watching VR grow into the tour de force that they are now, I am still amazed by their consistent level of all-encompassing musicianship.” (Sherwin Tay)

“VR was able to connect with the audience in ways seldom seen in our scene… I think its time for the scene to mature and VR has certainly pointed the way.” (Kevin Matthews)

All in all, it was one hell of a party…”

Ramblings & Updates

Hey folks. Its been a real crazy weekend for everyone all over the world, and the news just doesn’t seem to get any better. We want to lend our collective voices in sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Ms Lo Hwei Yen who was murdered in cold blood in a Mumbai hotel last weekend. There can be no way to justify or make sense of such violence, and we can only hope and pray that Ms Lo’s death was not in vain. The situation in Bangkok is getting from bad to worse – few of us can remember things being as bad as this over there. Our friend and opening artiste Jean Low only barely managed to transfer to an alternate flight out of Chiang Mai, after being stranded there over the weekend. Her hosts in Chiang Mai – Gary and Ineta Lansdowne – were not so lucky and our meeting this week in Singapore had to be cancelled.

Let’s hope things start looking up for us, and the world. If you’re the praying sort, do pray for a peaceful Christmas, and for a world that’s plunging into the unknown.

Album Launch Tickets Update!

In other news, our album launch preparations are proceeding at a good clip. Things are going according to plan and we’re right on track to deliver the show of our lives come 19th Dec!

We’re pushing tickets out to stores as this post is being typed – so you can get your tickets from Straits Records (22 Bali Lane), Roxy Records (Level 2, Excelsior Shopping Centre / Hotel), and the Substation Box Office (45 Armenian Street). And if you know any of us personally, you can get your presale tickets from us!

Other Stuff

Aloysius Lim has posted some brilliant pictures of last week’s Manics show. Check ‘em out here – http://soft.com.sg/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=142851

Stay tuned for updates – we’ll be rolling news out as things happen.
